On June 11th, 2020, VinFast officially opened its office in Melbourne (Australia). VinFast Australia aims to research and develop new car models and lay the foundation for VinFast’s international expansion, towards realizing the vision of becoming a global automobile brand in the future.

VinFast Australia is located at a prime location neighboring the financial and economic center of Melbourne and adjacent to Monash University with large-scale research centers, which facilitiates the research & development and business activities.

VinFast Australia sets goals to expand its presence to international markets, connect with leading suppliers, catch up with the latest technologies and trends. In which, research and development of new car models, including both ICE and BEV variants, is currently considered the focus of VinFast Australias operation.

Since the beginning of 2020, to fast track the development of new car programs, VinFast Austrialia has been put into operation with Automotive Technology Institute 2 as the mainstay. The second Automotive Technology Institute of VinFast staffs nearly 100 employees who are industry experts and excellent engineers from the world’s leading automakers such as GM, Toyota, Ford, Jaguar Land Rover, together with hundreds of partners’ employees.

The Automotive Technology Institute 2 is headed by Mr. Kevin Yardley, who held senior management roles at GM Holden for 20 years. GM Holden is the automotive brand which is considered “the pride of Australians”. Mr. Yardley also has years of experience in developing new cars in Australia, China, India, etc.
